LO2: Treatment

Working Title:
Cut Alien Blue Finger

Narrative:
The narrative will follow a struggling detective who is working on a case about a serial killer in the fictional town of Stompton, he is analysing the murders but he also is finding it very difficult to get anywhere on the case, he also is an alcoholic as he goes to alcohol whenever he's struggling. We find out that his wife had been one of the many killed by this killer. Using notes left behind at the murder scenes, which contain information that only the detective could know, he finds an abandoned warehouse, which contains a hidden base. In this abandoned warehouse he learns about the truth, that he was a test subject used by aliens to see if they can control peoples minds. One scene will contain him sat in his chair drinking alcohol when suddenly the radio switches itself on and it is a news report about another murder, then we see the door open and its the silhouette of a woman who says "honey I'm home and we hear a gunshot and the woman falls to the ground and we see the detective scream out, he then wakes up sat in his chair.
We need to include music in our short film, which will be used to influence the audience’s emotions and create the correct atmosphere for each scene an example is during the final scene when the detective finds out the truth we will use suspenseful music to really get the right effect on the audience. We will also use sound effects to create verisimilitude within the short film and make it seem realistic.

Throughout the auditions we made notes on each actor so we could refer back to them:

LO2: Location Scouting/ Recce

Initially i went on google maps to plan our locations, we have 4 locations, house, streets, field and supermarket. For these we have decided to choose quite locations to limit the risk of interfering with the public.
These are some of the streets we would like to use in filming (Hallam Ln, Eyre Ln) this is becuase they are quite streets so we can film without catching the public, also this looks like a rough area so fits with our narrative.
These are some of the streets we would like to use in filming (Black Swan walk, Chapelwalk and George St) this is because they are quite streets so we can film without catching the public, also this looks like a rough area so fits with our narrative.
we will use UTC Sheffield as the office space needed to film, this is because we can easily source extras here and make it look like an office space.
we need a small supermarket film in, so we have choose "Hallam Booze" or "Spar" as these are quite quiet and will be easy to get permission for.
These are fields which could be used for filming as they are quiet and are easy to get permission for as they are public paths

For the house scenes i have chosen my house, this is because it has all the space needed for filming the bathroom and house scenes.

LO2: Risk Assessment

I created the risk assessments for each location to identify possible risks

LO2: Sourcing actors

I used the website "StarNow" to source actors, first i created a listing with a short description of the film and the actors needed, next i contacted a few actors separately which we also found on StarNow. As we got a lot of responses i narrowed it down to ones who would fit the parts best and sent them separate messages inviting them to auditions which we are holding at UTC

LO4: Certification
